Telephonic Exams
Posted: April 30, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized 2 Comments »I get several calls a week from people seeking information about taking a polygraph over the phone. The answer is NO. This is a scam. No polygraph can be conducted by phone. There is only one truth verification instrument in the world that is scientifically validated and is highly reliable (over 96%).
A polygraph is about a 90 minute to 2 hour process done in the office with an examiner. Anyone selling you something over the phone is ripping you off. There is no such voice system that works better than chance.
Is this related to computerized voice stress analysis?
Yes. Voice stress analysis is a scam. It is a tool used for interrogations. The results from the scientific studies show that the results were no better than chance at about 50% accuracy. The “doctor” who invented the system finally admitted that he got his title from a diploma mill and is not actually a doctor and has never gone to class! They sell this idea that you can take a lie detector over the phone for cheap. Th problem is it doesn’t work and the results don’t mean anything because you have no idea if the thing is right. It is a complete waste of money.
A polygraph is the only instrument that has any scientific backing. That is why the federal government uses polygraph and not voice stress. The Feds do lots of studies related to polygraph and if it is done correctly it is accurate in the high 95% range.
